Punjab Biotech Seeds and CPRI Begin Work on Aeroponics Facility in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, Punjab | 17 July 2026
Punjab Biotech Seeds, in collaboration with the Central Potato Research Institute (CPRI), has begun construction of a state-of-the-art aeroponics facility at Chak Budhe Shah village in Ferozepur district.
Developed under an MoU between Punjab Biotech Seeds and CPRI, the facility is planned to have a production capacity of approximately 10 lakh potato minitubers per season. The initiative is expected to strengthen the availability of high-quality potato planting material and promote the adoption of advanced seed production technologies in Punjab.

Aeroponics is an advanced method used for producing disease-free, high-quality potato minitubers in a controlled environment. By improving the multiplication of quality seed material, such facilities can play an important role in strengthening the potato seed supply chain and supporting growers with better planting material.
The commencement of the project marks a significant step towards expanding modern potato seed production infrastructure in Punjab and could contribute to improving the availability and quality of seed potatoes for farmers in the region.
