Haldiram-SK Group Venture Opens Advance Potato Bookings for 2026
Mantra Agri Solutions, a strategic joint venture between snack industry giant Haldiram and the SK Group, has officially announced the opening of advance bookings for potato for the 2026 season. The initiative aims to streamline the supply chain for processing-grade potatoes by providing farmers with high-quality Early Generation Tubers (PEG) and guaranteed buyback options.
Direct Sourcing and Market Pricing
The company has released its procurement rates for "Rasan Grade" potatoes, structured to favor high-quality industrial yields. These ex-field rates are established based on tuber size and variety to ensure transparency at the farm gate:
- L.R. (45 mm +): ₹245 per 20 kg
- L.R. (30 mm +): ₹230 per 20 kg
- Gulla (Rasan Grade): ₹135 per 20 kg
- PEG (Papa’s Farm): Approximately ₹1,400 per bag (approx. ₹28/kg)
Key Terms and Conditions for Farmers
To ensure quality standards and operational efficiency, Mantra Agri Solutions has outlined several critical guidelines for participating growers:
Advance Payment: A booking amount of ₹500 per bag is required for PEG orders.
Payment Schedule: 50% of the total PEG amount must be cleared 10 days before delivery, with the remaining balance due upon receipt.
Buyback Guarantee: The company offers a buyback arrangement for the resulting crop produce at a Market Rate (MR) of 10, subject to quality and size criteria (minimum 45 mm).
Logistics: While delivery will be facilitated from cold storage facilities in Gujarat, farmers will bear the loading and unloading costs. A standard deduction of 1 kg per bag will apply for loading charges.
Strategic Impact on the Potato Ecosystem
The move is part of Mantra Agri Solutions’ broader vision to position India as a global leader in the agri-value chain. By connecting farmers directly with large-scale processors like Haldiram, the venture seeks to reduce price volatility and post-harvest losses.
"Our vision is clear: to build a transparent, quality-driven potato value chain that meets international benchmarks while ensuring fair pricing for the farming community," stated the company management.
Farmers interested in the 2026 booking cycle are encouraged to contact regional representatives Ushir Joshi (9913000013) or Saurabh Gupta (9099031955) for further details. Bookings remain open only until stocks last.
