Contract farming companies have begun announcing potato contract rates for the current season across different production regions, with variations depending on crop type and intended usage.
In Gujarat, contracts for processing-grade potato varieties—primarily used for chips, flakes and fries—are reported at around Rs 11 per kg to Rs 12.50 per kg. Under these agreements, companies are supplying seed to participating farmers at approximately Rs 26 per kg to Rs 32 per kg, with cultivation and quality norms defined within the contract framework (Seed to potato)
Separately, forward procurement contracts that are not linked to seed supply are being quoted at approximately Rs 9 per kg to Rs 10 per kg in regions such as Punjab/Haryana, for supplies in Feb and March largely aligned to table and processing potato categories.
