Market Perspective
July marks a clear acceleration in potato movement from Aravalli–Sabarkantha cold storages. Chips potatoes have crossed the halfway mark in evacuation, while French Fries and Table potatoes are also showing meaningful movement.
At the same time, 57.23% of the season's original stocks are still in storage. The remaining inventory of around 1.41 crore bags is substantial and its movement during August and the following months will be important for the regional potato market.
The large balance in processing potatoes as well as the entire seed inventory means that processor procurement, seed demand and the pace of subsequent cold-storage withdrawals will remain important indicators to watch.
